A doll house replica of Jedediah Hawkins Inn, built by Roy Rasmussen.

A lover of historical homes, Mr. Rasmussen built the house after reading an article in Newsday on the restoration of Jedediah Hawkins Inn. This is one of many doll houses, he has built, some of which are exhibited in the Doll House Museum of Kentucky. Come see the doll house, displayed in our parlor for the holidays.

Daring Pairings: Scary-good wine and food match-ups for the super-SIP-cious

Joshua Wesson, award-winning sommelier, author and founder of Best Cellars

While we all know that white wine goes with fish, and red wine with meat, such traditional food-and-wine pairing rules often rise to the level of superstitions (e.g., break them and bad things will happen). But on this Friday the 13th, Josh will lead a brave band of fearless foodies in a gustatory journey through five plated pairings that dare to be different. A frightfully tasty time will be had by all!
Guests will receive a signed copy of Josh’s book, Williams-Sonoma Wine & Food—A New Look at Flavor. (One per couple, please.)

From New York City to Long Island’s East End, there is a deep—and expanding—spirit world all around us. Let spirits expert Allen Katz be your guide to the rich history and delicious proliferation of local distilled spirits from Prohibition to today. Savor tastes from the Inn’s kitchen, sample handmade gins, vodkas, whiskies and more, and learn to make delightful cocktails with them in an evening of Gatsby-esque degustation.

Guests will receive one bottle of one of the New York Distilling Company’s gins to take home. (One per couple, please.)

Craft Beer: A Love Story

Tom Acitelli, beer historian

Long Island illustrates the real-life unfolding of the craft beer revolution, as described in Tom Acitelli’s new book, The Audacity of Hops. Join Tom for a tasting of local brews, and learn the distinct styles of craft beers and the passions and palates behind them. A sampling of hearty pub-type fare will round out an evening of gastro-goodness.

Guests will receive a signed copy of Tom’s book, The Audacity of Hops: The History of America’s Craft Beer Revolution. (One per couple, please.)

All sessions begin at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $95 per person, plus tax and tip.

The speakeasy space beneath the Jedediah Hawkins is a cozy rock-walled hideaway, complete with trapdoors and a special “secret” entrance. It’s the perfect, cozy space for these intimate sessions.

ABOUT JEDEDIAH HAWKINS INN

Surrounded by 22 acres of fragrant gardens and farmland, Jedediah Hawkins Inn is a relaxing North Fork wine country destination, celebrated for its history, genuine hospitality, good food and good wine. Captain Jedediah Hawkins built his home in 1863 in the popular Italianate style, complete with ornate architectural features and a belvedere. It was one of the finest residences on the North Fork. After having fallen into disrepair and becoming “haunted,” the house was saved from the wrecker’s ball and meticulously restored. The Inn, a cozy blend of traditional and contemporary design, reopened with a Decorator Show House. The New York State Historic Preservation Award confirms JHI’s investment in the community’s heritage and rejuvenation. Today, 150 years since Jedediah built his house, we look forward to welcoming you to this landmark, luxury property and to creating an authentic North Fork experience.
